Evaluating fertility

The best age when the fertility of a woman is at the highest is at the age of 25. At 25, the women’s chance to conceive naturally is around 20%. But with the growing age, women’s fertility levels drop and when women hits 30, her fertility levels drops down and at the age of 40, the chances to conceive drops down to 40 according to Klein.

Women who have been trying to conceive for around a year, and yet not successful must consult a fertility expert.Women aged above 35 who have been trying to conceive and failed need to get a screening done.

In such conditions doctors pay extra attention for women having health issues such as pelvic inflammatory diseases, PCOD, who have undergone treatments like chemotherapy etc. Initially a test is done to check the man’s sperm and examining the female  to look out for symptoms which stop her from conceiving.

In cases like where the Fallopian tubes are blocked, doctors suggest to go for the treatments which target the problems such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), where  more than one  embryos are inserted  directly into the  uterus. If the tests does not prompt any signs/reasons for infertility, your doctors might commence the treatment which uses low to usage of drugs which triggers the egg  production, which has fairly good chances to conceive during the most fertile days of woman’s  cycle.

If one treatment fails, doctor opt for next level treatment such as  intrauterine insemination (IUI), where the sperm is collected and placed directly inside the uterus. If one treatment fails, the couple can opt for more intensive treatments based on the doctor’s suggestion.
