IVM In Vitro Maturation - IVM Treatment Hyderabad

IVM (In Vitro Maturation) Treatment at SWCIC in Hyderabad India

In Vitro Maturation (IVM) is a procedure where low fertile medications are used to produce immature eggs which are collected through a minor surgery, and then matured using hormones.

In Vitro Maturation (IVM)
IVM is the renowned treatment style for infertility and SWCIC- the best IVF center in Hyderabad India could prove our ability in bringing success through this treatment.
In Vitro maturation (IVM)
  • In Vitro maturation (IVM) of human oocytes is an emerging infertility treatment with great promise. For successful assisted reproductive technology. There must be both nuclear and cytoplasmic maturation of the oocytes and give rise to human embryos that have the same developmental potential as embryos resulting from the golden standard of human IVF.The aspiration of immature oocytes from small to medium size antral follicles followed by their maturation In Vitro present an attractive alternative to the hormonal stimulation of patients in In Vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment.Administration of exogenous hormones is a costly treatment and and if there is a resistance to follicular gowth or risk of OHSS (e.g.: in Patients with low ovarian reserve, Severe PCOD patients) IVM is a viable optionIn vitro maturation (IVM) is a better and cost efficient alternative compared to IVF. IVM procedure has been proved to be successful and research is going on to improve the techniques.
How Does IVM Work?
  • In the IVM procedure , less dosage of medicines and drugs are used to perform ovarian stimulating to produce eggs. This technique was designed to serve women having problems like PCOS patients, thus minimizing the excessive usage of medicines, and hormone stimulators and OHSS.Whereas in IVF, the eggs are mature which are then retrieved when it’s close to ovulation. But in the IVM procedure, immature eggs are collected and then matured in the lab, using low dosage drugs and hormones for about 24 to 48 hours depending on how immature the egg and the time it needs to mature. When the eggs are matured, a sperm is inserted into the egg for fertilization using the intracytoplasmic sperm injection process(ICSI) . After fertilization the embryo is implanted into the woman’s uterus. IVM has evolved recently, with successful results. It’s a best alternative to IVF, where infertile women having multiple antral follicles who have higher chances of developing OHSS (ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome).
IVM is suitable for ?
  • Like all fertility treatments, IVM is not suitable for all women. IVM procedure is most suitable for women such as :Women suffering with increased risk for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), also women having PCOS polycystic ovarian syndrome .Women below 40 and have regular menstrual cycles.IVM can be combined with regular IVF cycles where several immature eggs are collected.
Advantages of IVM
  • As IVM procedure uses medicines and hormones of less dosage, it considerably reduces the risk of OHS which is rare but a serious medical complication.Compared to other infertility treatments, IVM is cost efficient and doesn’t use medications such as gonadotropin. IVM procedure takes less time when compared to IVF.IVM has proven to yield promising result, with success rate around 30-35% per cycle. For women suffering with PCOD, IVM is a best option.
Disadvantages of IVM
  • IVM is a recent evolvement in the infertility treatments and the results are yet unclear. As this procedure collects very immature eggs, utmost care has to be taken to handle the eggs.
It becomes hard for the sperm to enter the egg, hence ICSI procedure must be used.
What are the Steps Involved with IVM process?
  • Step 1: Taking some ultrasounds and blood test to determine the exact time of egg retrieval. The woman may take hormones prior to the procedure in suppository or pill form.
  • Step 2: Once the egg extraction is occurring, immature eggs are collected with little no ovarian stimulation through a minor surgical process. Ultrasound imaging is helped to guide a hollow needle through a pelvic cavity to collect the number of eggs. Medication is provided to the patient to remove and reduce the discomfort.
  • Step 3: In the OLD IVM process, the immature eggs are taking in a cell and stimulate with hormones until they get matured. In new IVM process, the immature eggs are placed in a cell and stimulate with c-AMP or cumuli until they get mature. Both old and new procedure may take 24 to 48 hours.
  • Step 4: In most of the cases, ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is used to fertilize the eggs manually.
  • Step 5: After the egg fertilization, the doctor will insert 1 or 4 embryos transferred into the uterus through a minor surgical procedure.
  • Step 6: If the cycle succeeds, the pregnant woman will move her care to an OB/GYN. If the cycle is failed, the woman or couple is going to another IVM cycle.
How does IVM differ from IVF?
  • In the IVF process, a doctor can give multiple hormonal injections to the woman for egg maturation when the eggs are in ovaries. In IVM procedure, mature the eggs after retrieving from the ovaries. So, it is not required to give a hormonal injection to the woman for egg maturation. This is a good option for women with existing reproductive issues, a woman with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) problems, or woman in remission or recovery from cancer due to side effects from an influx of hormones.
  • In one month period, IVF patients will take hormone injections and 5 blood tests and 3 ultrasounds. The new IVM procedure requires transvaginal ultrasounds, a couple of blood tests less than a week. There are small doses of hormones are given to IVM patients. They are scaled back 90% less than what IVF patients take. In IVM, the hormones are typically available in a pill or suppository. IVM cost is much lower than ivf treatment.
  • The process of IVM and IVF are the same after the process of egg retrieval and maturation. In both procedures, eggs and sperms are placed in a dish or choose intracytoplasmic sperm injection ICSI to fertilize the eggs manually.
What are the Side Effects of IVM Treatment?
  • Like with Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), there is a chance of multiple pregnancies happens if more than one embryo is inserted into the woman’s uterus.
